Catfish Edge Guide Service (North Texas Catfish Guide Service) is based in Fort Worth Texas and have been in operation for fifteen years offering guided catfish fishing trips on Dallas and Fort Worth area lakes and rivers.
We’re Texas largest and longest running catfish fishing guide service and focus solely on fishing for catfish.
We’ll be changing the North Texas Catfish Guide Service name to Catfish Edge but it’s a slow process. We’re adding a brief summary of information here but for now but you can get full details and updates on the North Texas Catfish Guide Service webiste.
Catfish Edge Guide Service is a multiple boat, multiple guide operation owned and operated by Chad Ferguson that covers numerous bodies of water in the DFW area including:
- Eagle Mountain Lake
- Lake Worth
- Lake Lewisville
- Lake Ray Roberts
- The Brazos River
- The Red River
Most trips are on Eagle Mountain Lake and Lake Worth and airboat trips are offered on the Red River and the Brazos River.
Chad and the team of guides are all very skilled anglers at catching all species and sizes of catfish. We don’t focus solely on targeting trophy class fish or one species of catfish, we truly do it all.
If your goal is to catch a big mess of smaller blue or channel catfish or you want to catch that trophy class fish of a lifetime we have you covered!
While our home base is in Fort Worth Texas we have guides we work with on referrals throughout the United States.
If you’re looking for a catfish guide anywhere in the United States feel free to contact us. We’re happy to refer you to another reputable catfish guide and make sure you have the fishing trip of a lifetime.

The Catfish Edge Guide Service Experience
Here’s a brief summary of what we have to offer, where we fish and the types of guided catfish fishing trips available through North Texas Catfish Guide Service.
If you’re wanting to keep some catfish for a fish fry we’re happy to let you do so but we have a strict policy on trophy class catfish. All catfish over five pounds are released, no exceptions.
We offer guided catfishing trips for blue catfish and channel catfish focused on fast paced action and catching numbers.
During most of the year we can target and catch excellent numbers of blue catfish and channel catfish from one to ten pounds for an amazing day of fishing.
Trophy Catfish – Big Catfish Action
If your goal is to catch the catfish of a lifetime of a new “personal best” then we’ve got you covered.
Whether you want to catch a monster trophy class blue catfish or a massive flathead catfish we offer trips for both.
Chad’s been catching big monster trophy class Texas catfish with his clients long before most of those other folks were even old enough to spell trophy.
Chad Ferguson and the team know how to find and catching big Texas catfish on rod and reel.
If you’re looking for more than just a day on the water catching fish and want to learn how to be a better or more successful catfish angler we’re willing to teach you as much or as little as you want to learn.
Our premium products are a great way to learn how to locate and catch catfish but hands on instruction is a great way to learn in place of or in addition to the Catfish Edge premium products.
Just let us know when you’re booking your guided catfish trip that you want to learn and we’ll have you taken care of.
Some of the topics we’re often asked to teach others are:
- Boat control techniques
- Basic catfishing techniques
- Drift fishing
- Controlled drifting
- Targeting structure and cover
- Locating and patterning catfish
- Locating and catching shad
- Learning how to read sonar
No matter what you’re goal, we can cover the information you need to get started locating and catching catfish on your home waters.
The Catfish Guide Boats
We operate only the best and well maintained equipment so we can put you on catfish and assure you have a safe and comfortable time on the water.
The Lake Boats
We fish from big center console bay boats on the lakes. All of the boats in our fleet are large boats suitable for guiding that are safe, dry and well maintained.
We don’t expect you to pile in to a boat that’s not suitable for a guided fishing trip and be cramped all day like a bunch of sardines.
Chad Ferguson fishes from a 2014 SeaArk ProCat 240 catfish boat powered by a Suzuki DF225 outboard. Chad’s boat is equipped with a Humminbird Onix 10, Humminbird 360 Sonar, Minn Kota iPilot Link as well as Lakemaster and Avionics cartography.
We only use the best catfishing gear and equipment available including Abu Garcia Fishing Reels and the Chad Ferguson Signature Series Catfish Rods.
Airboat For River Catfish
Texas rivers are a different breed from the rivers most anglers are used to across the country. They’re shallow and rocky and difficult to navigate so specialized equipment is required.
We operate a 20 foot Air Ranger air boat on the Red River and Brazos River for our guided catfishing trips.
The experience of riding in the air boat alone is worth the price of admission but the fishing is even better because we can get to fish that nobody else can.
Airboat trips are focused exclusively on catching trophy catfish and are 100% catch and release.
